    Support at Home

Helping You Live Independently, Safely, and Comfortably at Home

From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government’s Support at Home Program will make it easier for older Australians to stay independent and supported at home for longer.

This new program will replace the Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) programs.
The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will join no earlier than 1 July 2027.

At We Care Staffing Solutions (WCSS), we’re here to guide you through the changes — offering compassionate, tailored in-home care that keeps you connected, comfortable, and in control.

What is the Support at Home Program?

The Support at Home Program simplifies how you access aged care — combining multiple existing in-home services into one, easy-to-understand system.

Classification Levels: What They Mean & How Much Funding

When you’re assessed under the Support at Home Program, you’ll be placed into one of eight classifications (for ongoing care) based on your assessed care needs. Each classification comes with a quarterly budget (every 3 months) and corresponding annual funding amount. The higher the classification, the more intensive support is available.

Here is a breakdown of the eight classifications : https://agedcaredecisions.com.au/support-at-home-levels

*Figures approximate as at November 2025 and subject to indexation.

    Important Notes :

    • The classification number you receive is determined through your aged-care assessment (via My Aged Care / assessment teams) based on your needs, strengths, living situation and risks.
    • The budget is provided quarterly (every 3 months) rather than only annual-once. This allows for better flexibility and adaptability.
    • Carry‐over of unused funds: You can carry over up to the greater of $1,000 or 10% of your quarterly budget, into the next quarter.
    • If your needs change (increase or decrease), you may be re-assessed and moved to a different classification.
    • Existing holders of the older Home Care Packages Program (HCP) will be transitioned to a matching SAH classification — without losing funding under the “No Worse Off” guarantee.
